BOULDER, Colo. — August 7, 2026 — Online abuse has become an occupational hazard for professional athletes. Respondology, the AI platform for social comments, is teaming up with Feyenoord Rotterdam to change that, announcing that the Dutch club has adopted Respondology’s technology to protect its players, coaches, staff, and the experience of fans across social media.
The rollout covers Feyenoord’s Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn accounts, where Respondology now screens incoming comments in real time, proactively hiding hate speech, harassment, and toxicity before they reach public view.
As one of Dutch football’s biggest clubs, Feyenoord generates a high volume of fan engagement across its social channels, engagement that also carries exposure to abusive and harmful comments directed at players, staff, and others.
The risk is well-documented across European football. According to Respondology’s data from reviewing more than 500M social comments, abuse directed at clubs has increased 240% year over year.
By proactively hiding abusive content and illegal scams in real time, the Respondology platform creates a safer and healthier online community for genuine fan engagement.
“Unfortunately, hateful reactions on social media are becoming increasingly common, both in sport and beyond. Feyenoord has also been confronted with this issue. From now on, expressions of hate, racism, discrimination, intimidation and threats on Feyenoord’s online channels will be filtered out using Respondology’s technology.
The fact that such comments will no longer be visible does not mean that there is no longer room for supporters to express criticism or emotion on Feyenoord’s online platforms. However, a clear line is drawn when it comes to online hate. Differences of opinion are part of football, but respect for one another must always come first,” said a Feyenoord spokesperson.
